XMAX V3 Pro Review

The XMAX V3 Pro is one of the most searched-for portable vaporisers in Australia. At a fraction of the price of premium devices, the obvious question is what you give up for the lower cost.

In our XMAX V3 Pro review, we look beyond the specifications at what the device is like in day-to-day use. That covers its two heating modes, vapour quality, battery and upkeep.

By the end of this article, you’ll know whether the XMAX V3 Pro suits your needs or whether another vaporiser is a better fit.

XMAX V3 Pro Review: Our Verdict

The XMAX V3 Pro is one of the easiest vaporisers for us to recommend to patients who want a capable, compact device without paying a premium.

Its biggest strength is flexibility for the price. You can choose between on-demand heating for quick, individual draws or session mode for longer use. The battery is a standard 18650 cell, so you can swap in a charged spare rather than waiting on a charger.

The trade-offs are a small chamber, a budget build and a shorter warranty than premium devices.

For us, the XMAX V3 Pro makes the most sense as an affordable first vaporiser, or as a portable backup to a larger device.

Best for: Patients who want an affordable, pocketable dry herb vaporiser with flexible heating modes and a replaceable battery.

Consider another option if: You want larger loads, premium build quality or the longest possible warranty.

XMAX V3 Pro Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Affordable: Costs far less than premium portable vaporisers while covering the core features most patients need.
  • Two heating modes: On-demand heating for quick draws, or session mode that holds temperature for 4 or 6 minutes.
  • Replaceable battery: Uses a standard 18650 cell, so a charged spare can be swapped in when the battery runs low.
  • Fast heat-up: Reaches temperature in around 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Precise temperature control: Adjustable from 100°C to 220°C, shown on a clear OLED screen.
  • Compact and light: At around 105 g and pen-shaped, it fits easily in a pocket or bag.
  • Dual-use: Comes with a concentrate pod for patients prescribed concentrate products.

Cons

  • Small chamber: Holds around 0.15 g, so it suits shorter sessions and needs more frequent reloading.
  • Budget build: Solid enough for everyday use, but it doesn’t have the finish of premium devices.
  • Slow charging: A full charge over USB-C takes around three hours.
  • Shorter warranty: One year, compared with two or more on premium devices.
  • Technique matters more: Getting consistent vapour takes a little more attention to grind, packing and draw speed than some premium devices.

How we assessed the XMAX V3 Pro

This review draws on the manufacturer’s specifications and our experience helping Australian patients choose portable vaporisers. It focuses on heat-up, vapour, ease of use, battery and upkeep.

What Is the XMAX V3 Pro Like to Use?

Once you’ve learnt its few button controls, the XMAX V3 Pro is simple to use.

Load around 0.15 g of ground dried flower into the chamber and press the button three times to switch on. Set your temperature, and the device vibrates when it’s ready, usually within 10 to 15 seconds.

On-Demand vs Session Mode

The two heating modes are what set the XMAX V3 Pro apart at this price.

  • On-demand mode heats only while you hold the button. It suits one or two quick draws.
  • Session mode holds your set temperature for 4 or 6 minutes. It suits longer, sit-down sessions.

You can set the temperature anywhere from 100°C to 220°C. Lower temperatures give lighter, more flavourful vapour, while higher temperatures give denser vapour. If your prescriber has suggested a setting, you can match it exactly.

Vapour Quality and Performance

For its price, we think the XMAX V3 Pro produces vapour that holds up well against more expensive devices. Its fully isolated ceramic air path keeps vapour away from the electronics, which helps keep flavour clean at lower and mid-range temperatures.

It does reward a consistent grind, even packing and slow draws more than premium devices do. Newer patients may take a few sessions to find what works best for them.

Battery Life, Charging and Portability

The XMAX V3 Pro uses a standard 18650 lithium-ion cell instead of a built-in battery. With a charged spare, you can swap batteries in seconds rather than waiting on a charger. When the cell eventually wears out, you replace the battery, not the device.

That matters because charging is slow, at around three hours for a full charge over USB-C. If you buy a spare, choose a quality cell from a reputable supplier and carry it in a protective case.

At 150 × 24 × 27 mm and around 105 g, the slim, pen-style body is genuinely pocketable.

Accessories, Cleaning and Maintenance

The XMAX V3 Pro comes with a concentrate pod for patients prescribed concentrate products, plus a cleaning brush, alcohol pads and swabs. Always follow your prescriber’s directions for each product.

For regular users, we think the XMAX V3/V4 Pro Dosing Capsule Set is the most useful add-on. Capsules let you prepare sessions ahead, load away from home without mess and keep the chamber cleaner. A glass mouthpiece is also available, along with our wider range of vaporiser accessories.

Cleaning is quick. Empty and brush out the chamber after each session, and wipe the mouthpiece and air path with an alcohol pad every few sessions to keep draws free and flavour consistent.

Is the XMAX V3 Pro Worth the Money?

For the right patient, we think the XMAX V3 Pro offers excellent value.

You get fast heat-up, precise temperature control, two heating modes and a replaceable battery for $184. Few devices at this price combine all four.

What you give up is the premium finish, larger chamber and longer warranty of more expensive devices. Whether that matters depends on how you use your vaporiser and what your prescriber recommends.

Who We Think It Is Best For

We would recommend the XMAX V3 Pro if you:

  • Want a capable vaporiser without a premium price
  • Are choosing your first portable vaporiser
  • Prefer short sessions or quick, individual draws
  • Want a replaceable battery you can swap on the go
  • Need something slim enough to carry in a pocket
  • Want a portable backup to a larger device at home

We would consider another option if you:

  • Prefer larger loads and longer sessions without reloading
  • Want the most consistent vapour with the least technique
  • Value premium build quality and a longer warranty
