Hey Vapers! Curious about the latest vaping regulations?
The new vaping Reforms Act that the government introduced on the 1st of July 2024 has changed the way vapes can be sold and advertised.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Retailers like tobacconists, vape shops and convenience stores can no longer sell any type of vape
- Vapes are now exclusively available at pharmacies
- Currently you need a script to purchase a vape at a pharmacy but starting the 1st of October they’ll be available without one.
From the 1st of October, vapes with nicotine concentrations of 20mg/ml or less can be purchased without a prescription by people 18 years or older. Pharmacies will only be able to provide a maximum of one month supply of vapes per visit, once a month. Pharmacists will also need to ensure that they’re suitable for you and meet several other conditions such as offering you advice on alternative smoking cessation therapies.
Vapes with a nicotine concentration greater than 20mg/ml or people under 18 years of age will require a prescription with a special approval to be able to access vapes.
